Yesterday the last member of Ratpack-III left us; Cosmo has passed just 26 days after Jeremy.
We knew he'd be leaving soon like so many paired-rats who lose their mates, but it wasn't even a month. He got a bit sick over the weekend and we knew he was getting close to 3 years old, but it was just so sudden that I had to tell Shawn "It never gets any easier."
Then we remembered all the things Cosmo would do: chase the ferret, chew holes in every plastic cage EVAR, and munch dried cranberries with fervor. He was one of the sweetest boy rats, always closing his eyes in bliss when we pet him.
Now we are out of rats--and boys--in the house for the first time in almost 5 years.
Let's not say goodbye; let's say hello many, many times to Cosmo's namesake:
