RAWRRRR, Pinners!!!

After not logging onto Pinterest for nearly months, I vow possibly to NEVER go back.
Ohh, teh pins.
The weight loss motivation that gives every reason to lose weight EXCEPT for being healthy and strong.
The millions of pretty, yet insignificant and make-believe homes and renovations that say nothing about the character of the people who call the space home. The lovely, very expensive homes and renovations that do not make us champion our own spaces we call home; they only serve to steal joy via comparison.
The women... the beautiful, perfect, PHOTOSHOPPED-ER THAN HELL "women," who we also compare to our own likenesses, which invoke feelings of lack and perpetual never-measure-up-ness.

And amidst the pins are actual gems of awareness, consciousness, Truth even.
Do these get pinned? Repinned? HELL NO?!
WHY, WHY DON'T YOU CARE, PINNERS?!

You give the testimony that you don't care dog food is made of rendered animals that found their ends with disease, euthanizing at the shelter, or being "4 D" cattle by instead pinning a lovely little wedding bouquet onto your FREAKING PRETEND wedding board!
You don't care that 1 in 112 children (and counting) now have autism... you'd rather pin a freaking nutella recipe that will just make you feel guilty 2 pins later--when you see a skinny bitch that makes you jealous-- not the pin of a starving African baby you passed up.

The people on Pinterest with effed up priorities scare me. Last time I checked my house is amazing just the way it is, I'm effing gorgeous just the way I am, and my heart knows what needs its attention most.

Heard of Pinspire? No? Good.

Pinspire is a rip-off of Pinterest and you may be shocked to find out it's not the only one! Pinme.ru, a Russian version, and another site based in China caled Markpic are both copycats of the Pinterest site which is valued at over $20 million.
I don't think Pinterest will care as they are the original and they have also founded themselves legitimately, both qualitites any copycat sites lack. I think the fans of Pinterest will be the real ones who are offended, much like myself.
I understand there are "no new ideas;" that is why I will never choose to copyright anything I make. But when you pull up this "pinspire" site and compare it to Pinterest's home page, I hear a "mwaaaamp mwap."

I won't be signing up, using or advocating Pinspire. I hope they get sued until they have no pants.

Pinterest Grounding Update!

Source: joyshope.com via HiLLjO on Pinterest

So far my Pinterest self-grounding has worked! I'm more creative, independently inspired and guess what! 16 out of every 20 pins I make get repinned! Some have been repinned over 30 times!!! YAY!

I, for one, love my husband.

I resisted Pinterest ALL day. I made my bloggy reading-and-commenting rounds and continued working today instead of logging on... until 5 minutes ago!

What a mistake that was.

All I get from Pinterest is pissed off anymore. There is a slew of people making light of talking bad about their partners, and specifically husbands, on there in the form of repins of stupid quotes.

For the Husbands!

:-)

I can't take more than citing just 2 Pins I disagree with here. It's not that I don't have a sense of humor because trust me, I DO. But to me, it is the equivalent of men reducing women to their appearance to reduce a man to his faults.
I, for one, love my husband. So. Damn. Much.
To make light of his emotions and to not take into account how much he does for us would be a crying shame. Partners need to raise up each other with love and kindness and appreciation.
My husband is a man of character and that is why I wanted to marry him. I didn't want to get married before I knew him, but after I met him I only wanted to be married to him.
If we disagree, we argue with respect for each other and work through our differences. That doesn't mean one bends to the ideas of the other; it means we respect each other enough to let the other own their own thoughts.
My husband cannot be nagged. No one likes it, so why would he? If he was going to do something around the house and he has not done it yet, I simply (READ:)Let. It. Go. 10 times out of 10 the next time I think about it, he has already done it.
My husband is my best friend and he teaches me so many things by sharing what he learns about the world. He reads everyday. He researches for the sake of knowing something for himself. He is truly intelligent for seeking information for no other purpose than his own curiosity. He has taught me so much, and I hope what I'm sharing with him teaches him, too.
My husband is cool. He has style; he never wears jeans, just Dickies pants. I really love how he dresses as an individual. He likes good music that we both enjoy and has introduced me to bands I love who I'd never heard of before. He is open minded and open hearted and this just allows all kinds of cool things to rush in.
My husband encourages me by always believing in me. He sees how determined I get about so many things, and he never undermines it with reality. He's just there for me when I fall short to remind me of how far I got when I started with nothing.
My husband loves me. He shows and tells me everyday. Do you know what he told me this morning? That he keeps thinking about how I look when I smile and how precious I am to him. Yes, he is real.

So join me in my challenge to you, dear readers: RISE UP AND LOVE YOUR PARTNER. Be a true partner to your spouse, fiance/e, boyfriend, girlfriend, and show the world that "They are More."

Tried a Pinterest Recipe!

Bacon-wrapped Jalapeño Poppers
My latest recipe I tried was some jalapeño poppers for New Years Day at the in-laws. They held a potluck and I brought these guys. Here's the link to the (slightly hilarious) recipe.

-GROUNDED-

No, not like "down-to-Earth" grounded, but like, grounded-grounded. From repinning and surfing Pinterest. I love Pinterest just like anyone else but it wipes me out for coming up with original, uncontrived ideas.
Plus I get pissed when I see things like boot socks declared as a "new thing." Bitch, I wore those last year on the day I found my wedding dress. November of 2010. Yeah.
Basically I just need to take a little break from all the social comparison that occurs, is natural, and is human... but makes you feel like a fat cow for not having rock hard abs. And I don't think I'll miss the idiotically misattributed quotes. There's just not enough time in the day to come up with the tact necessary to correct all these things and to keep your sanity and True Self intact at once.
Ditto to all the exclusionary and ignorantly hurtful quotes as well.

I have no problem with making original pins from things I find on my own while I am grounded, but I won't be seeing the "More Pins" button for quiiiiiite a while.

Sometimes my nihilistic way just gives me the gumption to delete ALL my pinboards and start afresh.

I just felt really inspired this week making my little sweater-remnant headband because though it's not a new idea, it was not contrived. It was a very organic HiLLjO-flavored creation. THAT is the kind of things I want to make, not no-sew tutus (which I started making 2 years ago for my sock monkeys and kitties) and chalkboard-painted-everything (which I did partake in for the wedding B.P. or, before Pinterest).

Point is, it's like when you study a whole bunch of information. You start to recall it days later after it processes in your brain, is stored and then remembered. Pinterest holds SO many things that when I'm feeling creative and want an idea to come to me naturally, I recall a Pin instead. Sadddd panda.
So I'm going to clear out the Pinterest Recalls and start letting things come to me again.

Pinevitable....

Hello my lovely loyal readers and Happy Fall to y'all,

I want to thank you all for your continued visits despite my low ebb in posting. I am very busy at my day job and I have no time at home to get on the computer... if I had the internet. I am however, gathering bits everyday on Pinterest because it's all I have time for. Here's what I'm working on there:
So if you haven't joined pinterest and need an invite, ask me in the comments and leave your email address there, too so I can send you one! If you have and didn't know I was on there, get following!
If you do belong and want to add anything to a board with me or make a board with me, I'm down!

LOVE!

Pinterest!

This is the thief of my time spent blogging. But it's fun!
I am using Pinterest to collect ideas for my cousin's wedding if she decides to have one in the next year. I have several others that I am working on with my other designs along with some of our wedding photos!
